Rape Response Needs Your Help!

Nearly all of us know someone who has been the victim of assault or abuse. For those of us who know such people personally, the first question that often runs through our mind is, “How can I help?” Though this question can be answered in a variety of ways, one way is to offer respite from the stress, anxiety, and trauma that often follows in the wake of assault. Research indicates that simple activities, such as journaling, coloring, watching a movie, playing a game, or learning something new along with crisis intervention and/or counseling, can re-boot or condition the brain after trauma. With this said, Gainesville’s Rape Response is building a “Healing-Hope Chest” filled with items to offer victims/survivors of sexual assault as they make decisions about what healing and recovery mean to them. They need our help to fill it.

For the next three weeks Center Point’s religious education students will be collecting DVDs (G, PG, and PG-13 only, please) and CDs for the chest. We want to challenge you to give as well. Below is a wish list of items for the chest. Items can be brought to Center Point for donation. We thank you in advance for your support.
