January is National Mentoring Month, and I would like to encourage everyone to consider Mentoring a child. In just one hour a week, you can make a difference in their lives. Yearly evaluations reflect improved academics, attendance, friendships and bonding to school of those children who participate in the program. And there are benefits to the Mentor as well. Mentor Trainings are currently being held two times a month at Center Point, located at 1050 Elephant Trail, directly across from Gainesville High School. Upcoming meetings are: Tuesday, January 13th, 12-2pm; Monday, Jaunary 26th, 6-8pm; Tuesday, and February 10th, 12-2pm. Anyone wishing to become a Mentor is welcome.
