Prevention

Center Point’s Alcohol and Tobacco Prevention program was created in 2001, in order to better educate students and parents to the dangers of alcohol and tobacco, and aim at equipping them with the knowledge necessary to make healthy lifestyle decisions.

Individual programs operating under the Prevention umbrella include the following:

Power Teams
Power Teams operate in local-area middle schools. Students participate in groups, where they learn goal-setting and leadership skills.

SWAT Teams
SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) Teams are comprised of middle and high school students who actively campaign to educate the public concerning the dangers of alcohol and tobacco.

Media Literacy
Media Literacy was created in partnership with the Hall County School System’s Safe and Drug Free Schools program. Media Literacy trains students to identify how the media target youth in their advertising of alcohol and tobacco.
